Excited consumers will be able to buy their very own Apple Watches starting on April 24 in the United States as well as eight other countries. Prices will start at US$349 and go up to US$17,000. If you can’t wait for then, or don’t care if you actually have an Apple Watch but just want one that looks like it, you can get a look-alike from one of several Chinese companies. They’re already available for purchase. Reporters for re/code saw and tried on one of these copies in Hong Kong last week; it had been purchased on the Chinese mainland for only $45. It’s not the first knock-off, either. Hyperdon was showing off its copy in L.A. at the International CES even before Apple officially launched the real version.
The watch re/code saw looked like a crude version and they weren’t able to try it. They were told it could accept a SIM card and had a camera that took black and white images.
