Introduction
Back in the nineties there was a popular toy called a Tamagotchi. It basically was a small egg like device with a black and white screen that featured a small egg that after a few hours hatched into an animal. Your goal was to either play or feed the animal and make it grow and make sure it didn’t die of loneliness.
My Planet Simulation by Ape Apps is a simulation game app with a very similar concept. This time it’s not about keeping your little creature happy, but it’s all about your own planet.
In this planet game app, it’s up to you to give it the attention it deserves and make sure the population of your planet doesn’t die out.
Keep reading our Plant sim app review to get more details about this sim game for iPhone users.
Starting the Game
When you start the game you basically have a virgin planet with a population of 100. This will remain that way for a long while, as the game is still setting itself up. There are only two different option in this game: you can make it rain or you can make the sun shine.
There are three statistics you have to keep your eye on: Sunlight, Water, and Vegetation. As we all know, sunlight makes water disappear, and both are needed for vegetation, so you will have to manage carefully how much of the two options you add to your planet.
After a while you will see your population grow and a little more activity happening on your planet, but there’s nothing much more you can do than check the app every few hours and see what your planet needs.
Tons of Ads and Nothing to Do
The game is very boring, as there is nothing to do at all. You will simply be staring at a spinning globe for hours on end and nothing happens. I don’t think it’s fair at all to call this a game.
On top of that, there are tons of different ads throughout the app, such as a top banner and a small app icon in the bottom of the screen (don’t get fooled by this one, as sometimes it might look like an option within the app). There is no way to shut off these annoying ads.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Cons
- Takes forever to even start playing the game (up to 5 hours!!)
- No actual gameplay involved
- Only two actions to take
Conclusion
I’m not sure if this app classifies as a game. There are only two things you can do in this game, and in the first hours of “gameplay” you will just be staring at a spinning globe.
The only way to play this is simply to come back every day and see if your planet needs something, but I’m pretty sure anyone who has this app will forget about it before they even came back the first time. The app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad.
