Apps on sale

In 2022, over 255 billion mobile apps got hit with the ‘download’ button. Whether you’re talking about iPhones, Google Pixel, or any other smartphone or tablet. Users love apps. Open up your phone right now and we’re willing to bet you have at least double the number you thought you had.

But we’re going to give you a few more to add to your list. These gaming apps are a mixture of classics, new titles that are making waves, and niche projects you may not have heard about. Let’s start.

Roblox

It launched way back in 2006, meaning it’s older than Discord, Instagram, and Snapchat. But it’s still going strong, and perhaps better than ever. Roblox is difficult to explain, it’s something you have to experience.

What drives its constant growth is its dedicated user base. It has over 52 million active users, with players able to create, play, and connect with others. There are different ‘experiences’, including role-play, adventure, and sims, which makes Roblox one of the most attractive games on the market.

Online Casino Games

Apps are all the rage, and it’s no surprise online casinos have joined in on the action by creating purpose-built applications for their smartphone and tablet users. These have allowed casinos to level up their experiences, giving users the immersive action they expect from an in-person casino.

However, casinos know that players like options. For example, instead of downloading an app each time you want to play a game, you can choose to play pokies from your phone at SkyCity without piling up your memory card.

Long story short, whether it’s old-school blackjack or the newest and shiniest slot, online casinos are worth checking out (many even offer the games for free!).

FIFA Football

If you’re a football fan (or even if you’re not, to be honest), this is a must-play game. EA dominates the sports game market for a reason: the games are just incredibly good.

Every year, this game gets better. We’re thinking that soon you won’t be able to tell the difference between FIFA and the real thing, it’s that realistic. Oh, and now that Messi is going to play for Inter Miami, watch this game run up the rankings in the United States.

Lego Star Wars Battles

Ever since LEGO and Star Wars got together, it was a match made in heaven. This RTS multiplayer game will lead you to something close to addiction. It’s not a game that just piggybacks on the SW name, it offers quality gameplay for players of all ages.

Having said that, the Star Wars stuff they include just works. The music is on point, and the characters are a combination of the big names and lesser-known niche characters from the Star Wars universe. The result is an incredibly immersive game that deserves a sequel.

Pokemon GO

Probably the only augmented reality game that has made a splash in the mobile industry. It obviously has the advantage of the IP, which brought in the initial user base. But otherwise, this game stands on its own.

What we really like about this game is that it encourages players to go outside and, you know, get some fresh air. The AR features work fantastically well with the environment around you, and there’s always a new challenge waiting for players.

Angry Birds

This game is so popular that even many major airlines offer it as the de facto entertainment option on long-haul journeys. Heck, it even got to the point where Finnair offered Angry Birds-themed flights to exotic locations like Singapore.

The OG game’s sequel is now 8 years old, but it’s still a force to be reckoned with. It’s oh-so addictive, with the developers finely tuning what made the first edition an instant classic.

Among Us!

This one catapulted to the top of the download rankings a couple of years ago and it’s still hovering around the 10 most downloaded games today. That’s super impressive, especially considering the actual game mechanics are pretty simple.

Yet still, developers and gamers alike know that getting the simple things right is one of the most difficult things to accomplish. This game is silky smooth, the graphics attractive, and it has loads of replayability. The draw to sabotage and trick our friends is perhaps just too great!

Call of Duty

Our final entry is one that is a must for any list of this nature. Call of Duty is a classic, a game that even the biggest non-gamer will have heard about (and probably played at least one round).

It’s a simple concept, a first-person shooter just like any other. Except it’s not just like any other. When it comes to FPS, it’s all about getting the subtleties correct. The smoothness of the gameplay, keeping it easy enough for beginners, but always a challenge for even the most decorated veterans. Interesting stories to keep you entertained, but with the action always at the forefront.

We dare say, this may just be the perfect game.

So, here it was, our list of the gaming apps you must try in 2023. No matter if you are a big casino fan or you prefer first-person shooter games, there is something for everyone’s taste.
