Introduction
Technology is surely bringing the world together and iVox is one iPhone and iPad cheap phone call app that is contributing greatly to this phenomenon.
Gone are the days when you would have to spend half your paycheck if you wanted to have an extended call with your long-distance partner; now it's easy to use services such as Skype or Viber to use as an iPhone app for phone calls and do so for free.
These services, however, require that the receiver of the call also have this service enabled, so making calls to cell phones or landlines is still a limiting factor. The iVox app completely side-steps this hurdle, as you can make very cheap calls to both international and local phone numbers.
You can find this good iPhone app for phone calls in the Social Networking section of the App Store, where it can be downloaded completely free of charge, giving it even more points for accessibility.
What's even more pleasant is that there are no third-party ads inside this app, so that adds to the user experience that much more.
Let's take a look at this app's features in our iVox app review and see if it's the best VOIP for iPhone users.

Set-Up and Functionality
You'll be pleased to know that iVox is a very lightweight app, clocking in at just 8 MB. When you launch this app, your country will automatically be detected and the country code will be presented, prompting you to fill in the rest with your phone number.
Make sure you enter the right number as it will be associated with your account, and you'll be sent a four-digit confirmation number on your phone.
This number took a good few minutes to reach my phone, but everything was smooth sailing thereafter. The productivity app asks permission before importing your contacts and you'd be wise to import them into the app for easy dialing.
Otherwise you also have the option of keying in a different number by navigating over to the Keypad section.

Make VoiP Calls
The iVox app works by allowing users to make international calls using VoiP when they are connected to the internet, be it through WiFi, 3G, or 4G.
Best iphone and ipad apps
There is an “Account” section located in the bottom navigation tray, where you'll be able to add credit to your phone, view purchase history, and see a “menu” of calling rates for each country, including the separate rates for cellphones and landlines. As expected, a quick glance at the rates assured me that iVox indeed offers dirt-cheap calling facilities.
The only downer in this app was that there was a promise of 45 minutes worth of free talk time, but I did not receive this. Furthermore, it also says in the Account section that inviting a friend to use iVox would automatically up your credit by $1, but despite sending off invitations to several contacts, I received no such credit.
Pros & Cons

- Enjoy excellent call quality; it's far superior to an actual phone call
- Enjoy U.S.-Based customer service
- No need to sign up or give out any information other than your phone number for confirmation
- Import your contacts automatically for easy dialing
- Place calls while connected to the internet, even if your network is not working

Final Words
