Trigger app review: get the most up to date news before it starts trending worldwide
Introduction
Trigger by MobiusBobs is a news aggregator that attempts to bring you the top new stories before they begin to break elsewhere. Many of us rely on Twitter these days for the most up-to-date stories because so many top news outlets and leading figures use it to disseminate their stories almost as soon as they come out – everyone wants to be first with the scoop. Trigger claims to have developed an app that can beat even these social influencers to the punch. It does this through the use of complex algorithms that are constantly scouring the internet for news the second it’s released. Trigger is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

The Latest News When it Happens
There are tons of news apps in the App Store – everyone from local newspapers to world services like CNN or the BBC seem to have an app these days. So, there’s no shortage of places to get your news fix from. Arguably the best place to find a news story as it’s breaking is Twitter. Often times, stories are released on this medium the minute they happen, and yet the developer of Trigger claims their app is even quicker which is difficult to believe. Although it may be just as quick, the built in news reader user interface that’s included in this app is an ideal way to read the latest news.

This app does have a brief introduction when you first open the app, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to go back and view it again later. There is no comprehensive set of instructions either, which is really too bad because this has the potential to be a really great app but suffers because of this lack of instructions. There are no ads to get in the way of your content which is refreshing, and there are no in-app purchases either. You do have to either create a profile or use one of your social media accounts to sign into the app though. Trigger app will require 36.7 MB of available space on your iOS device.
The Essentials
Once you’re signed into Trigger you can begin searching for the news you like right away. There are three main sections that the app divides the news into: Spotlight, Newsstand, and Overlooked. The spotlight is where you’ll find articles that are trending right now on social media so that you can read the news as it happens. In the news stand section you’ll find the news divided into popular categories such as entertainment, tech, and sports. The final category is where you’ll find articles that have been overlooked by other sources so that you can impress your friends with your knowledge of a subject they may never have heard of before.

The cool part about this app is that you can leave your own comments on news stories and become part of the conversation, and you can bookmark your favorite stories as well. In the overlooked section you’ll also notice, if you’ve integrated your profile with your social media account, that it shows you if that article is already present in your social media apps feed. It’s these little extra features that can help keep you current on what’s going on in the world.

Final Words
Trigger is a great news aggregator that includes several different ways of viewing articles. It also lets you comment on news articles that catch your interest, allowing you to become part of the conversation. If they create a good instructions section for this app, then it has the potential to go from being a good app to a great one.
