XBox 360 Cheat Codes+ app review: something for every XBox 360 gamer

Reviews

Introduction

In an era where the cheat code rarely exists, and when it does it means if you use it you won't be allowed to complete any next-gen game, I'm surprised an app like the Xbox 360 Cheat Codes+ exists. Seeing that it does, we may as well take a look as I'm interested in exactly what constitutes a "cheat code" in this day and age.

Lists Not Cheats

I've grown up through the eras of each gaming system (yes I am that old) and I owned most of them. From the Telstar to the Atari 2600, from the Colecovision, into the age of the Nintendo Entertainment System, and all the way up to the consoles of today I remember when the term "cheat code" meant something. The XBox 360 Cheat Code+ app is definite proof of something all of we gamers knew was long dead.

XBox 360 Cheat Code+ app is basically just a list of every Achievement you can get in each Xbox 360 game and how to reach them. If you have played any 360 game ever you will quickly realize how useless this app is. When playing any XBox 360 title and you find an item that relates to an in-game Achivement the game will inform you both how many you have collected and how many total items it takes to unlock the Achievement. If you forget, or want to see any of the Unlockable Achievements in the game, simply hit pause and in the Menu got to Achievement.

There you go: that gives you everything you were looking for and that XBox 360 Cheat Code+ would show you is available in the actual game. To add insult to injury, the entire app is text-based. You won't see an image of the game cover, screenshot, nothing, just a scrollable list of every game in alphabetical order.

A Few Options Is No Redemption

Even the other categories, save the Chat option, in XBox 360 Cheat Codes+ are pointless. You can add titles to Favorites or click on Best Deals. Now Best Deals may have you thinking about links to the "best deals" on XBox 360 games, and that would make sense. Instead this app would rather link you to the App Store to download Candy Crush or whatever other app is being advertised in XBox 360 Cheat Codes+.

The Chat option, like most things on the Internet, is littered with people fighting over which is better: XBox One or the PS4. Not a single person is talking about what the app is trying to feature, and it seems no one has seemed to notice that XBox 360 Cheat Codes+ is just a pointless app.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • A comprehensive list of every XBox 360 title with their specific Achievements and how to reach them

Cons

  • All the information provided can be found in each particular game you'll play so the app is pointless
  • No images at all
  • Best Deals just takes you to advertiser's links

Final Thoughts

Whether you are new to the gaming environment or a hardcore player you will not find a single benefit from XBox 360 Cheat Codes+. I'm interested to know how long it took to create this app, because the developer could have found a much better use of time. If you are looking for an app that will help you out with your XBox 360 gaming then look elsewhere. A simple search with your Internet browser will help you find more about each title than XBox 360 Cheat Codes+ ever will.
