Titanic Dog To The Rescue app review: experience the story of the Titanic

Reviews

Introduction

You may be familiar with the history of the Titanic and its tragic ending but what you haven't experienced is this story from Rigel the Newfoundland dog's eyes. The Titanic Dog To The Rescue app takes a look at the sinking of the Titanic but throws Rigel into the picture as he performs heroic act after heroic act trying to rescue people. He's actually trying to find the Titanic's First Officer William Murdoch, who just so happens to be his master.

The Reading Experience

The book is all-absorbing right from the start and features plenty of pictures to draw the readers in. There is informational text added so you will also be learning facts as you go along. The book is meant for kids ages five to nine but really anyone can enjoy it.

You are given two different reading modes which is read it yourself or you can listen to the story read to you by the narrator's voice. The story is of course focused on the adventures of Rigel but as stated you'll learn plenty of other facts about the Titanic and Rigel in the process.

The book is broken up into five parts which are the illustrated story, the story behind the legend, facts about Newfoundland dogs, Newfoundland's history, and Newfoundland in literature. Not all features are included in the free version. To access the full app you will need to make an in-app purchase of $0.99.

Mixed Reviews

Let's take a look at the positives in this app first. The story itself is very cute and the illustrations are beautiful and fun. It will definitely capture the attention and imagination of kids right away. They will be so interested in Rigel that they won't even realize they are having a mini history lesson. The fact that there are two different reading modes is great too, so you can choose how you want to read it.

With the positive also comes the negative I'm afraid. Users find this app frustrating in a sense that the free version gives you very little. You aren't able to read the full story; rather, you only get just a part of it. Of course once you start the story you'll want to complete it so you are pretty much forced into purchasing the full version. Just like the users have stated I am able to read the first few pages and then that’s it. I will say the story was cute from what I read and turning the pages was smooth and quick.
