Moms are constantly on the go with a million-and-one things to do so having an iPhone app to take notes, log what you’ll probably forget, or jot reminders (like for when for when you see an interesting article on “salads for younger skin” but don’t have time to read it but wana save it till later) is a great idea. Even better, having a personal diary that you can drag and add info to throughout the day is proving a must-have for mums on the move.
Evernote
Price: Free
Evernote appears to be just the app with multiple functions that allow you to make notes, add voice reminders, capture images, share notes and/or sync them to your laptop in the kitchen so when you get home you can see your daily planner on a bigger screen.
Of course there is a premium service as with most apps, but the free version has more than enough features unless you wish to lock your account with a security pin so others can’t tap into it wirelessly.
It’s also useful for keeping track in the cost of certain products or using Amazon’s integrated killer price comparison app which lets you scan a barcode to see if it’s cheaper elsewhere and then logging the price on your future shopping list.
Pinterest
Price: Free
Pinterest may have just reached its peak in popularity on the web, but for people – mainly women – pinning images and vids etc to their customized pin boards, pinning on the smartphone or tablet is still gaining momentum as new apps incorporate Pinterest.
It’s a strange kind of social medium and one a few social analysts didn’t predict would take off, much like Twitter – but it has.
So it’s great for taking a snap shot of a friend's new cut, or a recent desert at your local restaurant and pinning your interests for later viewing.
The design interface of Pinterest is stylishly structured, which makes your boards all the more visually enjoyable to view.
Allrecipes
Price: $2.99
Allrecipes is perfect for scanning through dishes you might want to cook for your partner or your family. Once you’ve chosen your main menu, Allrecipes then provides you with the ingredients you need to buy on a shopping list, and you can then return and get more help from the app when preparing the meal.
Step by step instructions are sometimes available in video format.
Cozi Family Organiser
Price: Free
The Cozi Family Organiser is great for color coding family members and putting together their own daily schedule so you can see clearly who needs to do what, when, and where.
You get to also put together shopping lists, family calendars and journals and to do lists.
This app for mums gets great reviews although only one slight downer is that on the iPhone supposedly you can’t view the calendar one month at a time but you can on the laptop or iPad.
Maybe a future update will follow.
