Reviews

Introduction

If you happen to live in Kentucky then you’re definitely going to want to check out this weather forecasting app, providing 10 days worth of dedicated reports and delivering severe weather notifications direct to your iPhone or iPad, with unrivaled detail and accuracy.

The best iPad apps for weather

In terms of its interface and overall design, this app is basically a carbon copy of many comparable weather apps. This is by no means a bad thing, however, because this style of weather app has been tried and tested, proving itself to be a worthy contender in the App Store.

This is definitely a very solid development and it receives a very strong recommendation from me!

Dedicated Weather Forecasting for Kentucky

Upon first starting up WKYT Radar, you’ll be taken to the Map section which also doubles up as the main home screen for the app. This is where you’ll most likely get most of your information as it contains the current temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and Feels Like temperature.

At the bottom of this section you’ll also notice a basic overview of the weather conditions for today, yesterday, and tomorrow, including the high and low temperatures for each day.

If you tap the house icon at the top of the screen, you’ll be taken to the Locations menu. From here, you can quickly find your current location with your device’s integrated GPS, enabling you to ensure that you’re receiving information with the utmost relevance to your local area.

The core weather forecasting functionality in this app is found in the 10 Day and Hourly sections. Here you’ll find detailed predictions for the weather conditions within each given timeframe, with additional information such as sunrise and sunset times, UV Index, and the chance of precipitation.

If you live in an area which is prone to nasty weather conditions then you’ll definitely want to take a look at the Alerts section, which enables you to set up Push notifications letting you know if storms, flash floods, tornadoes, or any other meteorological nasties are headed your way.

The Video section of the app really is the icing on the cake, giving you access to live streaming and archived weather forecast footage from Jim Caldwell over at the WKYT studios.
