Flashy Doesn't Always Equate To Funcional
With a bright and inviting Home screen, the WFSB 3 app has made it extremely fast and easy to get all of the top stories. Each story is provided in an easy-to-read text format with accompanying high-resolution photos, or video. The audio and video quality is average, and has some major pixelation issues with a few of the stories. In some cases the videos did no even load at all

The menu provides a well-laid-out list of every news category. This allows you to quickly find exactly what you want while on the go. You can even save the categories you will access the most by tapping the star icon next to the name.
The Weather section is extremely comprehensive and utilizes multiple methods to give you the forecast the way you like it. However, I found that moving from one category to another caused the app to crash consistently. Occasionally this did happen in the the main menu, but under the Weather category the app froze or crashed every single time I attempted to move from one section to another.
This would make most users simply delete this app altogether and turn on their local news radio station or the Weather Network.
City- And State-Wide Traffic Reports
The Traffic Map section is a welcome addition; however, if you are a new user to this type of app it could be a little confusing as there is no legend included to give you an understanding as to what each of what the color coding actually means. If you are an experienced user this will be very easy to decipher, but we have to realize that the age range of people using smart phones and app is getting older. Some sort of explanation as to what they are seeing should be included. Sure it may be frustrated for most of us, but it would make the app extremely inviting to those who are new or skeptical when it comes to technology.

Final Thoughts
If you live in Connecticut and are in desperate need of a news app yet want to stay loyal to WFSB 3 News, then you may want to check this app out. I would suggest, however, that you try elsewhere. I'm quite sure one of the major television networks have a news app for your area and I can guarantee it will perform better on your iPhone and iPad than the WFSB 3 app does. Although it's great to see smaller television stations embracing new technology, I feel that the developers rushed this app just to get it out there. In the end, this benefits no one.
