The best reminder apps for iPhone
There are three main settings: pill, ring, and patch. Just set the med reminder app and go on with your day. Keep reading our review to see how MyPillr compares to the top medication reminder apps.
Free Version Very Limited
myPill® Reminder - Pill, Ring or Patch contraceptive, Period tracker, Discreet message, Calendar, Custom alarm, all birth control types! has a free version and a paid version.
The best counselling apps for the iPhone
This is fine, just keep in mind that some of the settings are only available for the full version. In the free version you can set your reminder to only one sound, but many apps only have one sound so this isn’t really a big deal.
What may be a big deal is that you can’t snooze the alarm, and that you can’t set a reminder for placebo days (days 22-28). I always preferred to have a 28-day pack so that there was no week of getting out of routine.
Other limitations of the free version include pill layouts such as 21/7, 24/4, 84/7, and more. There is also a log for taking time, password protection, discrete message, and additional contraceptives in the upgraded version.
Multiple Views
myPill® Reminder - Pill, Ring or Patch contraceptive, Period tracker, Discreet message, Calendar, Custom alarm, all birth control types! has multiple views so that you can view your popped pill pack with the days and dates for multiple months at a time.
The best reminder apps for iPad
I personally like this touch, as you can see when you would need to take your next pack at a glance, or when you would need to get a refill of your prescription.
The calendar view allows you to see when your pill days are if you are taking 21 of 28 days. If you take placebo pills, then they all look the same, so maybe a color coding could be an update in the future.
Additionally, in the calendar view you can choose from six symptom options: fatigue, intimate, cramps, diarrhea, heavy flow, and light flow. Once you select a symptom, an additional dot appears on the calendar to denote the selected option, but not a different icon for each.
You can also add a note, but if you are looking for a tracker, there are many apps better suited for this purpose.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Neat tracker for reminding of contraception with fun pill pack with popped pills
- A few reminder options
Cons
- Not a lot of choice in the free option
- Other than the neat graphics your built-in alarm could do the trick and still let you snooze the alarm
Final Thoughts
myPill® Reminder - Pill, Ring or Patch contraceptive, Period tracker, Discreet message, Calendar, Custom alarm, all birth control types! is a neat app that allows you to see how many pills you have taken and how many remain.
Other than this, unless you upgrade, there is not a lot that it does that the built-in alarm couldn’t do. If you want a fun visual, go for it, otherwise there are better cycle tracking apps available that include a pill reminder.
