Caveman Knock Down Free app review: a very bad Angry Birds rip off

Reviews

Introduction

I can imagine that loads of different developers look at the success of Rovio’s Angry Birds in envy. A lot of different developers have tried using a similar concept and succeeded in creating a good gaming experience, but obviously never came close to the success Angry Birds had in the first years after its conception. Developer Candy Games must have thought they had a great idea when they came up with the concept of Caveman Knock Down for iPhone and iPad, but they were wrong. The game is uninspired, difficult to play, and extremely low on content.

Gameplay

Where to start with knocking down this game? There are so many things that are bad about this game that it’s hard to find a place to begin. First of all is the gameplay. You use a big club to hurl a big rock towards an ever growing tower of cavemen. The cavemen look like they are just stacked on each other and there are barely any physics involved. Simply aim low, and you’ll knock them down easily. If you manage to knock down all the cavemen of their platform, you move on to the next level. If you don’t, you have to go back to level one, or the game just bugs out and crashes.

The Rest

As said before, the game is terribly buggy. When you want to use the club, sometimes the screen just moves back to the pyramid of cavemen, which after five times can get really frustrating. The art style isn’t anything special either. You'll just see some bland sprites and literally no animations or effects at all. The backgrounds are also very dull, so there is literally nothing positive I can mention about this game, except the fact that it’s free. On top of that it’s ridden with ads, which is quite annoying. Lastly the game is so hard I doubt anyone has ever past level three, if the developer even put the effort of making more than three levels.

Conclusion

Don’t even bother downloading Caveman Knock Out. This must have been one of the most terrible games I have ever played. The developers should be ashamed of themselves. I can’t believe that this app even went through Apple’s Q&A program. The worst thing though is that the developer himself didn’t even steal the idea properly. Do yourself a favor and download any other game from the App Store instead of this, even if it’s a game with hidden costs or that you have to actually spend money on, as it will leave you with a better feeling then downloading this game to your device. The developer did make this horrible game compatible with both iPad and iPhone. Please, just download Angry Birds instead.
