Futbol24 HD app review: claiming to be the fastest and most reliable in live scores

If you don’t have access to your local news at all times, because you’re traveling like I, or because you’re out and about, it can be hard to keep track of the latest scores of your favorite football (soccer) teams and competitions and their results. Many apps on the App Store claim to be the best at keeping you up-to-date wherever you are (of course, if you have a Wi-Fi or 3G connection). Developer Gluak SRL claims to be the fastest and most reliable service on the App Store, but does Futball24 HD compare well to the other scoring apps that have been around for longer? The app is only compatible with iPad, which is already one of its shortcomings.

Design and User Friendliness

Futball24 HD is definitely one of the nicest-looking football scoring apps I have seen so far. The app is cleanly designed and supports all the competitions of the world. You can set up all your favorite competitions easily and browsing through the different live results works like a charm. Simply swipe over a match you want to track and it will show up on the right-hand side, giving you constant updates while you browse through the rest of the app and find more information about league standings and other information about your favorite team or competition. Some of the functions of the app are pretty well-hidden, and no tutorial is available, but you will be get to know the app after using it for a short while.

Shortcomings

As mentioned, the app has a few shortcomings. First of all, when you first start up the app, the app doesn’t allow you to set up your preferences, like other apps let you do. This means you will have to go through all the menus to deselect irrelevant competitions for your needs, which can take quite a while. Secondly, and this is pretty annoying: I couldn’t find the results of my favorite team, which played yesterday, anywhere. I have been through all the menus and can’t even find my team, while other teams from that competition that played today were very easy to find.

Conclusion

Futball24 HD is a very decent scoring app, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best. There are plenty of other apps out there that deliver a better experience and are easier to use and set up. Finding results from previous days can be very tedious and without an initial setup you will spend the first 15 minutes just figuring out how to remove irrelevant competitions from the start screen. The app is only compatible with iPad, which is quite weird knowing that you would want this app for on the road, and the app is only 7.5 MB.
