Introduction

If you're a fan of match-three games here's one you can give a whirl. The Gems! app can be played on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone and takes the classic match-three-style game and gives it a dose of new features. Don't worry: gameplay is still easy to understand and extremely addictive and it feels fresh and new. While the app has been designed to play on iOS 7 it doesn't have to use this system, as anything from 4.3 or later will still work.

A Crowd Pleaser

This classic match-three game has an infusion of life and excitement thanks to a few fun adjustments. You will be working to match by creating vertical or horizontal lines that consists of at least three gems. There is an 80-second time limit on the game so you need to work fast. There are multi-player and single-player game modes. In the multi-player mode you will take part in a 24-hour tournament. Each time you win a game, in either game mode, you earn coins. Multi-player mode allows you to play against a random opponent or a friend.

This app has recently made some bug fixes and cut down on the amount of ads, which of course has made customers happy. In fact, users are so happy that they have given it a five out of five star rating.

 

Familiar Yet Different

I think a big part of why this game is doing so well is that it feels and look familiar yet there are some cool new features that spark your interest. Because I am a huge fan of match three-style games I instantly felt at home with this one. I like that you’ve got the two different game mode options so that if you feel like just playing a quick game you can or if you’ve got more time on your hands you can start up a match with a friend. The app supports the Leaderboard so you can see exactly how well you have been playing compared to the rest.

The graphics feel a bit muted to me but I do like the fact that the game uses the entire screen for the board. The sound effects are a bit disappointing and could definitely be better. I can’t comment on how many ads were in the game before but this updated version certainly isn’t bad when it comes to the pop-ups.
