Little Tikes Mini Golf app review: a fun mini golf game for children
Introduction
I find it really confusing how some developers categorize their app. Some apps are completely in the wrong section of the App Store, and then the developer will start wondering why no one can find the app. For example, if I was looking for a fun mini golf game for my children, where would I look? I would probably first look in the games section, or try and use the search function. The last place where I would look is the sports section of the App Store, as here I would expect more apps that are about sports, instead of a game for children. Developer MGAE made this mistake with Little Tikes Mini Golf. This app, developed for both iPad and iPhone, is found in the sports section, instead of the games section.

Gameplay
The objective of the game is simple. You have to put the ball while avoiding all the crazy obstacles that you would expect from a mini golf game. To hit the ball, you simply pull the ball back and a line will appear. The longer the line becomes, the more powerful your shot will be. There are many different obstacles on your way, but as the game is developed for children, no adult will find this game very difficult. The physics of the game are not the best. When you hit the side of a hole, your ball will instantly come to a stop and there is nothing you can do about this. This makes getting a hole in one almost impossible.

Graphics and in app purchases
The graphics of the game are not really anything special. They are very colorful, as the app is designed for kids, but they are very blocky and could easily belong in a 10-year-old game. The sound is also nothing special, and you will probably want to keep the sound down as much as you can. The game regrettably only has three free tracks to play available in the app. If you want to buy more tracks you will have to pay $0.99. This track pack will give you six extra holes to play and will probably keep your child busy for a bit longer.

Cons

Bad graphics

Bad sound
-
Bad physics
Conclusion
There are two reasons why I can predict this game will not do very well in the App Store. First of all, the game has nothing to do with sports, other than the fact that it has the word golf in it. It should not be in the sports category. Secondly, the game is not very good. Bad graphics, sound, and physics makes it hard to play, though kids might find it mildly entertaining. The app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone, and it is just over 50 MB, which is too much for the way the game looks.
