Sight Words List app review: an introduction to reading
Introduction
Calling all parents of young children, in particular those who are one to four years old: the Sight Words List app can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone to act as an introduction to reading for them. It's never too early for kids to start learning common words and build up their reading confidence and this is exactly why this app can help. The app uses a combination of games and flashcards to teach them 315 different words.
The best iPhone learning to read apps for kids
Built for Kids
As mentioned this app has been specially designed for kids’ ages one through four, so with that in mind, it provides features and graphics that will grab their attention and keep them entertained while they learn. This list of 315 is also known as the Dolch Word list. Because the words vary in difficulty they have been categorized into different age groups. You can't expect the one year old to know the same words as the four year old and you don't want to leave them feeling discouraged.
The best iPad apps for eBook readers
The app is free to use and parents give it a very high customer rating score of 4.5 out of five stars. Parents love how easy it is to use, the format that it uses to teach the kids, and that the words are very practical and common words. It’s a great way to start preparing kids before they even enter school so they are that much more confident.

Features and Tools
This app is loaded with cool features that make learning words fun and simple. You're even able to add your own flashcards and record the word using your own voice. Perhaps you want to add names of siblings, friends, family pets, it gives you a chance to customize the app. There are five game modes and the app can be used in portrait and landscape mode. Customize the speed that the flashcards are shown and even set the font color and size. There is the ability to choose upper or lower case, allowing kids to familiarize themselves with each. If there is a word/card that you don't care about you can always delete it from the list.
