Alarmy app review: the world's most annoying alarm app that actually works

Reviews

Introduction

For those of us wishing to get ourselves off the bed and start the day immediately, Alarmy is a fantastic iPhone and iPad alarm app which will ensure that you get up bright and early.

The best timer apps for iPhone

If you are anything like me, you hit the snooze button more than once or twice each morning and therefore simply cannot seem to get up and about despite having an alarm clock. Studies have shown that most sleep that occurs after the snooze has been activated is not very restful and may actually leave you feeling more tired and less energized throughout the day.

Featured on the likes of Cnet, Gizmodo, and Huffington Post, this app has reached #1 in its category in 68 countries including Germany, France, and South Korea.

I really needed this app in my life and it has been well worth the $1.99 to download it and use it. Let me explain why.

Rise And Shine!

Alarmy (Sleep If U Can) is a unique and effective solution to the snoozing conundrum. This app works by asking you to register a location, such as an area or a room within your home. When you have picked out, say, your kitchen as the designated area, you can then pick out the time for when you want your alarm to go off and go to bed in peace, knowing you will get out of bed the next morning.

When you wake up, you will have just one way to turn off your annoying and loud alarm: go to the registered area, in this case the kitchen, and take a photograph of it.

Wakey Wakey

Customize this harsh wake-up call to align with your morning activities or the urgency with which you need to wake up. If you can justify sleeping in just a little bit, then register the foot of your bed so you can drag yourself up just enough to take a photo of that and shut off the ringing.

If, however, you have to get to an important meeting that could end in you getting promoted, then drastic measures can be taken and I would personally recommend registering an area that forces you to get out of bed and walk out of the room.

Bonus points if you go straight to the kitchen and put the kettle on for your morning cup of joe, or to the bathroom to brush your teeth. Jumping straight into an activity that helps you kick off the day is far more likely to keep you awake.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Wake up on time for a change
  • Customize how “alarming” you want the alarm to be based on your morning schedule

Cons

  • Circumventing the alarm is fairly easy unless you challenge yourself

Final Words

Alarmy (Sleep If U Can) is really quite an amusing concept and has been a source of entertainment for me more so than as an alarm clock, but I can imagine that many people could benefit greatly from having this app on their iPhone or iPad because going back to sleep after you have gotten out of bed can be more difficult than starting the day itself! Try it out and see if it works for you.
