Introduction

What we have here is a powerful resource for any medical student, nurse, or doctor, which provides an incredibly comprehensive collection of medical formulas, scores, scales, and classifications that you can easily access directly from your iPhone and iPad.

The best counselling apps for the iPhone

I’m going to have to start off by saying that pretty much all of the content within this app is way over my head, but I can definitely vouch for the smooth-running and general efficacy of this app when it comes to delivering content promptly and concisely.

Access a Vast Collection of Medical Formulas

As with many apps of this kind, MedCalc Pro (medical calculator) is largely beyond this humble writer’s understanding, so the easiest way for me to sum up what you’ll find is to provide some examples of the formulas included, which are as such:

  • ABG analyzer
  • Anesthesiology (ASA, Bromage, Charlson, Cormack, Dermatome, Goldman)
  • Cardiology (CHADS, GRACE, EuroSCORE, Framingham, Killip, QT-c, TIMI)
  • Complicated scores (CAM-ICU, APACHE, SAPS, Euroscore)
  • Electrolytes (Corrected Ca, Corrected Na, FENa, Osmolal gap)
  • EBM (NNT, Odds, Sample size, Two-way table)
  • ICU (APACHE, CAM-ICU, SAPS)
  • Infusion management tool
  • Neurology (AMTS, Aphasia, Canadian rules, NIHSS, WFNS)
  • Obstetrics (APGAR, Bishop, Malinas, Wheel)
  • Pediatrics (Age, Height, WETFAG)
  • Respiratory (BODE, Epworth, GOLD, SMART-COP, Spirometry, Thoracoscore)
  • Renal (Cockroft, KDIGO, MDRD, RIFLE)

There are, in fact, more than 300 formulas, scores, scales, and classifications to explore within the app, and you can very easily share your results in a variety of ways, including email and copying directly to your clipboard to paste into other apps.
