You will get a list of locations and resorts to choose from, and when you select one, you can view information such as base depth of snow, recent snowfall dates and inches, number of lifts and trails that are open, and first-hand ski reports.

 

Trail maps of most ski areas are aslo included on this app, along with a GPS search function that enables you to locate nearby ski areas.

I really like how the developers have ensured that users have a seamless experience by ensuring all the information is contained within this app rather than being constantly redirected to Safari for additional information.

 

Although I appreciate the fact that the developers have made this app available for free, it is obvious what they have done to generate income: full-page ads. Advertising in free apps is to be expected but this app had far too many.

 

I wondered if perhaps this was an anomaly and that I might have received more ads than usual, but I checked out the user reviews and lo and behold - several users have complained about this. I hope the developers listen to the feedback and at least scale back a little bit.

Ski & Snow Report contains a lot of useful information and I absolutely love the feature of receiving reports from people who are on the slopes at the time. This iPhone and iPad app definitely works and I would recommend using it to quickly find out what you need to know, but the ads will be a hindrance; don't say I didn't warn you!
