AXS Map v2 app review: an app designed for the disability community to find access to friendly businesses
Introduction
When I look for apps I always tend to go to the same website that lists all-new releases for me. I try and find a good mix of apps to review and hope to find apps that will keep all readers on our site happy. Sometimes I find an app that is such a great idea, even though not directly for me, that I really look forward to reviewing it. This was also the case with AXS Map v2 by developer When I Walk Inc.

This app, designed for iPhone, also works perfectly with iPad and is developed to help anyone with a disability to find places where they have facilities that allow for easy access to the building.
What it Offers
As the name of the app already states, this app is mainly a map that highlights business around you where specific effort has been put in to make the building accessible for those with a disability. This could mean that there is a disabled toilet or that there is a ramp, elevator, or any other type of access specifically designed to replace the stairs. You simply share your location with the app and it will instantly find places around you where access to the building will not be a problem. There is one downside to this, as it was impossible for me to find buildings with access anywhere else than around me. Luckily there is a search function too and there you can narrow down the different categories of buildings.

Other Features
On top of all of this, there is also a specific part of the app where you can learn more about accessibility and disability. When you have found a great place that also is accessible, you can leave a review and highlight exactly why it’s so good and for what reasons. You can select exactly what facilities the building has for people with a disability. The only downside of the app, which I haven’t seen for myself, but read in the reviews in the App Store, is that the map lacks accuracy. This can be very annoying, especially when you’ve gone out of your way to get where you want to go.

Conclusion
The idea behind this app is fantastic. It’s simply a map app by the disabled community for the disabled community, as everyone can simply add their own review with easy. The app is very easy to use, though the actual map does lack accuracy, which is a big letdown. Browsing in categories is the best way to use the app. The app is designed for iPhone but also works fine with both iPad and iPhone.
