If you’re looking for a smart approach to losing weight then you’ll definitely want to consider using this iPhone and iPad app as it provides everything you need to keep an ongoing record of your food intake with a vast database of more than 20,000 food items to choose from.
To my mind this is little more than another food tracker, although you will need to upgrade to the premium service if you want to use it to record your exercise, weight, and a few other important data points.
Seeing as you can download this version of the app free of charge I’d suggest grabbing it to see how you like it and then from there you can decide if you want to shell out for a full subscription.

FitDay - Free Diet and Weight Loss Journal probably isn’t the most powerful food and activity tracker that I’ve come across in the Health & Fitness category of the App Store, but it does provide some basic tools that you can use to keep a simple record of your diet.

Create a List of Your Favorite Foods
Of course you can easily add your own custom items to the database if you can’t find what you’re looking for, and you can even use the Food Planner to piece together your own diet plan and keep yourself on the right track.
Aside from this, you can create a Favorites list of all of your most frequently used food items, and you can also receive a handy calorie report that will give you a clear idea of how much you’ve eaten over a certain period of time.

FitDay - Free Diet and Weight Loss Journal might not be worthy of a full upgrade as I think you can probably find similar levels of functionality for far cheaper; however, this free version is well worth downloading onto your iPhone and iPad to get started on your weight loss journey.
