CBS Local occupies a mere 16.5 MB of space on your iOS device, making it a relatively compact app. When you launch it, you must pick out your location or the location for which you'd like information. This app is the official mobile app for the CBS Local brands such as CBS Atlanta, CBS Denver, CBS San Francisco, CBS Seattle, and many more news sources, providing coverage for several locations in one convenient app.

I found that the news stories were laid out beautifully, with the full headlines rather than truncated ones on other apps. Furthermore, there is also an image and an excerpt from the article to help you determine whether you want to read the content in that particular article.

Videos broadcasts are also included for a select few news stories if reading is too much of a hassle. If you don't wish to read then you can also catch the CBS morning news brief which gives you the latest news as well as weather headlines in two minutes; also a good option if you're short on time.

The weather section gives you the details of the current temperature, cloud coverage, humidity, feels like, and the predictions for later that day as well as tomorrow. You can switch tabs to see hour-by-hour predictions, seven-day predictions, and even the weather across major cities in the US on a map, just like you would on a news channel.

As I've mentioned, CBS Local is a free app. Unfortunately this means that there are far too many ads cluttering up the screen and detracting from the user experience.

This app also includes the options of a live-stream audio broadcast and lets you set up the radio so that you wake up to it. The radio section also looks really neat and presentable with all the available channels listed out alongside the slider to adjust volume and a button to stop/play.

Unfortunately, the audio seemed to be patchy as it stops on its own. I tried to leave my phone with the audio in one place close enough to the WiFi router and it still stopped even though I didn't handle my phone at all.

CBS Local is a fine iPhone and iPad app if you want news stories delivered to you from CBS in the form of articles or videos, but I would recommend against getting this app if you are doing it for the radio/audio features.
