Fairy Tale app review: create your own tale

Reviews

Introduction

While it's fabulous to encourage your children to read it's also equally as important to encourage them to be creative and here's an app that can do just that. The Fairy Tale app can be used on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone and gives kids the chance to pen their own fairy tale they can then read. There are a number of skills it is encouraging such as writing, creativity, imagination, and plenty more. There are so many cool ways in which kids can personalize their stories including being able to purchase actual famous books to use the illustrations in your own story.

Let Your Kids be the Author

Who would have thought your kids could be authors but that's exactly what this app makes possible. In this very cool, engaging, and interactive app kids will find the objects and characters will actually respond to touch by moving and making noises. It’s as though the story is coming to life before their eyes. You can insert text and record yours or your child's voice into the story. Of course you can save the story on your "bookshelf" so you can go back and enjoy it anytime. Stories can also be shared using iTunes.

The best fairy apps for iPhone

It seems as though users are a bit mixed on this app giving it 3.5 out of five stars. Its latest update features a number of bug fixes in order to enhance the experience. Using the app is free and from there you can purchase books for $1.99.

The Story Writing Experience

When you first launch the app you are taken to a very sleek and professional-looking main menu. It is highly recommended you check out the “manual” which will take you through the basics of using this app. The app is involved enough that you may just find yourself referring back to this manual on a regular basis. With that said I get that this app is meant for kids to use but it’s not exactly child-friendly. This offering definitely requires mom and dad’s help.

The best handwriting apps for the iPad

You’ll need to begin your own book and start writing, adding voice content, and “items.” These items are characters, objects, backgrounds, and text. Keep in mind that some of these elements require an in-app purchase. When you do add illustrations into your story you'll be able to rotate them, change the size of them, and move them around on the screen.
