Bubble Trouble Original app review: an old classic game re-made for iOS
Introduction
It wasn’t until today since I thought about a game called Pang!, a game I played for so many hours when I was a little boy, fighting over play time with my older brothers. This game is now finally re-imagined for iPad and iPhone by developer Duyen Nguyen under the name of Bubble Trouble Original. The game weighs in at just under 17 MB.
The best games for the iPhone-2021
Back in the day, and I mean the eighties where almost every game concept was still original, there were many games with very cool concepts. Some of these games managed to grow out to classics, such as Arkanoid, Space Invaders and Asteroids, while other games kind of fizzled out and were almost removed from memory.
Gameplay
The gameplay of the game is simple, yet holds a lot of depth, which is why it’s not strange this game has remained in many people’s memories for a long time. Your character is in a room and has some kind of harpoon as a weapon. In the room there is also a bouncy ball, or bubble if you’d like. To beat the game, you must shoot the bubble, but the harpoon only shoots up. You will have to move your character around and line up your harpoon (and its tail) carefully to pop the ball and split it up into two balls. You will then need to pop these two smaller balls which again will split up into even smaller balls. You complete the level when you have popped all the balls in the level.

How to start!
Graphics and Sound
The graphics is definitely where the game falls short, as the graphics are even worse then I remember from playing it in the eighties. The same goes for the sound, which when playing it I instantly chose to turn off. Since the controls of the game are really good, and the gameplay is so addictive, this doesn’t really matter, but they should definitely have put more effort into the presentation of the game. I can’t even tell what the main character is! Is he human or some kind of pig-like hybrid?
Small balls
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Tight controls
-
Great nostalgia attached to this game
-
Addictive gameplay
Cons
-
The graphics and the sound are terrible
And big balls
Conclusion
Bubble Trouble Original is a game that instantly transported me to being a kid again. I loved playing this game when I was small and I still love to play it now. It’s not just the gameplay that made me feel nostalgic, as the graphics and sound are even worse than they were when I was a kid. The developer should definitely have a look at this, as if they can make the game look and sound more up-to-date, this game could be a hit on everyone’s iPhone and iPad. The game is only just under 17 MB, which is probably due to the bad graphics.
