Champ Cars 2 app review: a really difficult realistic racing simulation game
Introduction
Last month I reviewed a pretty good Super Bike racing simulation, and today I will review a game that claims to be the most realistic racing simulation on the App Store. TheiPhone and iPad app is called Champ Cars 2 and is developed by Minicades Mobile. The game focuses completely on oval track open wheel racing and is designed for both iPad and iPhone. The app is just short of 60 MB.
The best games for the iPhone-2021
There are tons of different racing games in the App Store. Most of these racing games focus on fun more than anything else and turn out to mainly be Mario Party clones. The App Store is definitely lacking hugely in realistic racing simulation games, as there are only a few contenders for the throne of best racing simulation.
Gameplay
Let me give you the same warning that the developer gives on the App Store app page. This is a very hard game, and you will need to set up your car before every race. Try out different set-ups and different racing lines to even win the first qualifying race in single-player. If you don’t know much about cars, like me, this would be a hopeless game to even try. For enthusiasts, this would be a pretty cool game to test different settings and see if your real-world ideas come across well on the digital track. The difficulty really comes in with the control method, as the game only supports the tilting mechanic of your device. This isn’t as accurate as buttons and basically made me spin out and hit walls all the time.

Graphics and Sound
The realism for me really came in with the graphics and sound of the game. The sounds are exactly what I expect from these powerful machines and the graphics are very detailed. The explosions of the cars might not always be too realistic, as they seem to extinguish themselves, but this is not a really big problem. I really enjoyed the graphics and they really draw you into the game. The sound is limited to the sounds of the engine though, and I believe some nice skidding noises or a nice soundtrack would be a good addition.

Conclusion
Champ Cars 2 for iPhone is definitely one of the most realistic games in the App Store. The only thing it really misses is the option to use traditional controls. The tilting mechanic really doesn’t do it for me and the developer should have known this. The sound and the graphics are fantastic and the fact you can tune your car in detail is a really good addition, but it’s not enough to save this game from the bad controls. The game is compatible with both iPad and iPhone and weighs in at just under 60 MB.
