iClicker - Free Dog Training Clicker by Savvy Appz is an app designed to help you train your dog. Clicker training is used by trainers all around the world for both advanced and basic dog obedience training, behavioral training, and to teach tricks. With the iClicker app, you can use the same training on your dog!
The app comes with the iClicker, which has a volume control and a realistic clicking sound, nine clicker training tutorials, in-depth clicker training videos, and “the Noise Box.”
The instructions show you how to use the app, how to “charge” the clicker, what treats to use during training, and basic obedience. Basic obedience includes teaching your dog to “stay,” “leave it,” “sit,” “off,” “fetch,” and “drop it.”
The videos, which require an Internet connection to view, include training on how to house train your puppy or dog; what is clicker training; basic puppy training; obedience training; what to train first; what to avoid training first; and how to deal with behavior problems like pulling, barking, biting, hyperactivity, and jumping up.
The “Noise Box” are 48 sounds to distract or desensitize your dog to common sounds that it may react to normally. Sounds include door bells, phones, car horns, dog toy squeaks, thunder, birds, fireworks, cats meowing, dogs barking, and rats.
The app works really well, if you use it properly, and consistently. The layout is brightly-colored and easy-to-use.
This app has ads; if you’d prefer an ad-free version, one is available in the iTunes store for $0.99.
As of time of writing, the app doesn’t have enough ratings in iTunes to show an average, but most reviews appear positive and it’s rated 4+. The app was released August 15, 2012.
