Best Sand Timer can be used for many purposes for young children or for adults. Many kids find them relaxing, so I’ve been using a 10-minute timer with my son when he needs a break.

You have to set the time each time from the standard five minutes, but this isn’t a big deal as most things require only five minutes. My six-year-old, for example, will watch the timer for five minutes and be ready to take on the world again.

As mentioned above, there are five color options of turquoise, red, green, amber, and pink. There are 30 sounds to choose from for the end tone, and this is great because so many apps have only a small selection of sounds.

You’ll be notified when your time is up even if you’re using another app or your device is locked. hourglass-app can also repeat the sound alarm (up to 3 times) at the given interval if it was missed/snoozed. It's like having a nice looking visual indicator of how much time is left on your task in form of timer apps.

The developers have updated the app on a regular basis to fix bugs and to improve support for the latest iOS.

You can only have one timer and need to reset it each time you need more or less time, however, the default setting of five minutes is usually plenty to get your kids calmed down, or to calm yourself down.
