Math Curriculum for Your Fifth Grader

iTooch 5th Grade Math is an interactive learning tool. Kids love to use technology, and sometimes it is that little bit of fun and different medium that helps the kids to keep going. This app is similar to the IXL Math

Practice app in that it covers all of the curriculum and has it laid out by subject which makes finding a specific lesson more easy when doing homework with your textbook. It is also easy to give a specific lesson reference for your students as it is divided into numbers and sub-numbers.

This is a free trial app that allows you to try the first two lessons in each section. There are five sections: numbers and operations, fractions, measuring and estimating, graphs and stats, and geometry.

Each section has 12 to 23 lessons, and your child can move through them at their own pace. My only complaint is that my students often tire prior to completing a lesson, and then have to restart later on.

To Test or Not to Test

iTooch 5th Grade Math has the option to test or not. By simply flipping the switch at the top of the lesson screen, your student enters test mode. This is great because they are then tested in the same way as they have learned.

iTooch 5th Grade Math does have a blackboard feature that you can access by swiping left at the top of the lesson screen, however your student must first copy the question over before being able to solve the questions.

Fortunately, when you click the x to exit the blackboard your work is not lost, so if you have to go back and forth a few times to make sure that your have the question copied down correctly, you can do so. Alternatively, a good old scrap paper does wonders.

• All of the grade five math curriculum is covered and easily sorted by the number classification
• Test mode easily switched on and off

Cons

• Lessons are long and my students don't always have the attention to complete a full lesson over fifteen minutes

iTooch 5th Grade Math | Maths worksheets on Numbers, Operations, Fractions, Graphs, Stats, and Geometry is an iPad and iPhone app that helps children with their curriculum base math homework or additional practice.

It is a change of pace for students in that it gives them the chance to use the tablet for their homework. Sometimes this change of pace is all the kids need to get the work done. If your child or student is having trouble with getting their work done, I would definitely recommend this app.

It provides and easy test to check their skills, and even has a blackboard for quick calculations. Overall, this app was fun to test, and my tutoring students enjoyed to too.
