Speakin Jamaican app review: inaccurate 2021
Introduction
Speakin Jamaican is a great idea for an iPhone and iPad languages app that presents you with text-based phonetic translations based on a Jamaican accent, but there have been some questions raised regarding its accuracy so you might want to think twice before downloading it onto your iOS device.
I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with the “Speakin” range of translator apps, and I think it’s important not to take an iPhone languages app too seriously.
I would like to point out, however, that one user has made a fairly legitimate complaint regarding the accuracy of the translations, so be sure to look at the Pros & Cons section in our Speakin Jamaican app review for a little more information on this good iPhone languages app.
Share Your Translations With Others
Whether you’re an actor or some other kind of performer, or you’re just looking for a little fun then you might want to check out this nifty little text-based phonetic translator for the Jamaican accent.
All you have to do is type in whatever word, phrase, or sentence you want to translate and hey presto, instant Jamaicanization! You can also share your translations with others online via Facebook, email, and text message, just be sure not to offend anyone in the process!
Questionable Accuracy
Speakin Jamaican also enables you to add your translations directly to your device’s clipboard so that you can paste them into chats on instant messaging apps like Whatsapp and Viber.
There isn’t much more for me to say about this app because it is a very simple utility, but I would recommend reading the Pros & Cons section below because I don’t think the translations are particularly accurate.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Access a text-based phonetic translator for the Jamaican accent
- Designed for fun and for stage performers
- Share your translations with others online via Facebook, email, and text message
- Add translations directly to your device’s clipboard to paste into instant messaging apps like Whatsapp and Viber
Cons
- The following comment definitely raises some questions regarding the accuracy of the translations provided by this app: “My adopted parents are Jamaican. I understand patois and this app had me looking like a fool. I want my $0.99 back.”
Final Words
Speakin Jamaican for iPhone and iPad should definitely be good for a few cheap laughs but just be sure not to take any of it too seriously.
I would also not recommend walking around shouting out Jamaican slurs but if you’re using this app as an amateur performer then I don’t think you can go too far astray with it.
