Fashion Design World is a unique app that adds something a little different to an otherwise predictable app category. This isn’t just another app for little girls to play dress up: it’s an entire world of fashion. Not only do you get to design your own dresses, you get to sell them in your own store!

It’s a very creative idea, and I really enjoyed exploring this one with the five-year-old in the house... needless to say, she loved it!

There was a major flaw I came across with this app though: the first time I downloaded it I couldn’t open the game play at all. Every time I hit play all I got was a black screen. I decided to delete the app and download it fresh, and then it seemed to work just fine.

I’m not sure what caused this, but it was inconvenient to say the least. After I got it running though this really was a cool little app. You’ll need 64 MB of free space on your iOS device for the download.

How to Play

This app is kind of like a role-playing game for fashion designers. When you run it for the first time you’ll be given a quick step by step walk through to get you started. Once you’ve got the basics figured out you’ll be left alone to start running your store.

You get to build your store right from the ground up. You’ll choose the clothing racks, tables, mirrors, furniture, and change rooms. The object is to turn this store into everyone’s favorite fashion boutique!

Before you start producing too much merchandise for your store though, make sure you have enough racks and tables for everything. I found out the hard way I couldn’t display my merchandise because I didn’t have anything in the store to display them on!

Be prepared to be patient with this one though, it takes time to turn your boutique into the place to be: there are no shortcuts (at least not for free). The more you produce, the more customers come in your store and the more you sell. Be careful to keep your shelves well stocked though, if you run out of items the customers will dry up.

If you can do all this successfully you will be able to move to the next level, and expand your store.  You can also connect and share your progress with your friends over Facebook.

While this is a free app you can speed up your progress by purchasing extra gems or coins through the app store. If you choose to go this route you can actually go so far as to purchase neighboring boutiques and expand your footprint. Before you know it you’ll be a fashion kingpin!

This app is a great way to introduce your little one to the fashion world. They get to be involved with every step of the process from designing the store to designing and selling the clothes. This one will keep them busy for hours.
