Introduction
Trying to decide on the right place to eat can be a hot topic for any family – mom might want Chinese, dad might want some wings, and the kids might want hamburgers. If you find yourself in this predicament, and you want to avoid a family meltdown, then you may want to consider a random food picker like Food Shuffle.
The best iPhone apps for finding restaurants-2021
This food picker app is designed to assist you in making your restaurant choice by randomly selecting a great restaurant for you from a list of 100 different possibilities. This random restaurant chooser is free and the app to choose a random place to eat is also compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Find the Right Place to Eat
There are many apps available in the App Store for finding nearby restaurants, so Food Shuffle has a lot of competition. These apps generally include the ability to link to restaurants using Google maps from within the app and Food Shuffle is no different.
Best iphone and ipad apps
Many of these apps also include extensive descriptions of the restaurants as well as recommendations. However, this is not something that Food Shuffle Offers. You will often find reviews when you link to Google maps though, so this isn’t a major issue.
One thing I noticed about this app that was a little disappointing is that despite saying that the app is available for the USA, India, the UK, Canada, and Japan, when you open the app you’re only given the option to choose between India, the UK, and the USA.
The other thing I didn’t like was that every time you run the app, the first thing you’ll see is a pop up ad and you’ll have to close this before you can actually continue using the app. It’s a little strange that they suggest the app works for all these countries when it clearly doesn’t.
On the positive side, it’s a very easy app to use and it doesn’t require any learning curve at all. This app will require 6.2 MB of available space on your iOS device.
How It Works
When you open the app, the first thing you’ll have to do is to choose the country you’re using it from and, as we mentioned above, if you’re not in India, the UK or the USA you’re pretty much out of luck.
Once you select your country, and once you get through the annoying pop-up ads, you simply tap on the big orange circle in the middle of the screen to allow the app to randomly select a recommended restaurant for you.
If it’s a restaurant that you like, you can tap on the arrow in the bottom right corner to find the closest location to you on Google maps. I found this to work very well – the whole process of switching between Food Shuffle and Google maps is pretty seamless.
If you don’t like the restaurant that Food Shuffle selects for you the first time, you can simply tap on the big circle again to generate a new selection. This is a simple concept, but unfortunately just about every time I tried this the app would crash on me and I would have to reenter the app to begin again.
