Edmodo by Edmodo is an award winning app for iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. Edmodo is an effective way for students to stay connected to their teachers and vice versa. This app enables users to send notes, submit assignments, view messages, and check future events without having to enter the classroom.

With Edmodo, students are able to submit assignments and check their grades while teachers are able to grade assignments, track assignment submissions, and post messages to students.

By exchanging messages using Edmodo, teachers and students can conduct secure discussions so teachers can be consulted outside of school hours if necessary.

Edmodo also supports file sharing with apps such as Kindle, Pages, iBooks, and DropBox, enabling teachers and students to quickly and easily share images and documents while away from the classroom.

Edmodo was updated to version 3.6.1 in early-January of 2013. This version has a total of 164 customer ratings with an average of three out of five stars.

I find this app incredibly useful from a student’s perspective. The only minor quibble is its lack of iPhone 5 optimization; however, this is likely to be included in a future updates.
