NHL GameCenter™ app review: the official app from the NHL

NHL GameCenter™ by NHL Interactive Cyberenterprises, LLC is an app that will let you follow what remains of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2013.
This is the official app from the NHL. It’s full of features and is the only app that lets you see in-game highlights, watch out-of-market games live, and stream live game audio.
You’ll get live stats and scores for every player and team, live game simulation, post-game video highlights, video-on-demand content, customized game alerts, player profiles, and you can customize with up to your five favorite teams (for next year).
If you like, you can upgrade to the Premium version through the regular season to get live radio broadcasts, condensed game replays, and in-game video highlights. It costs $4.99 for the whole season, although there isn’t much of that left.
You can also upgrade to NHL GameCenter LIVE™ during the regular season to get access on multiple devices, all the Premium content, and live out-of-market game videos. It’s an additional $4.99 and is not available right now during the Playoffs.
NHL GameCenter™ was updated to Version 3.0415 on April 29, 2013. The update added a series-by-series breakdown and analysis of the Playoffs. The current version has 81 customer ratings with an average of three out of five stars. Feedback comments are mixed, with some complaining that the app doesn’t work as advertised.
For a basic app that will give you information on the teams left playing in the Playoffs (Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks), as well as info on all the other teams from the 2012-13 season, this is a pretty good app. And it’s free, which is nice. You don’t need to upgrade unless you want the Premium features.
