Despicable Me: Minion Rush by Gameloft is a super-fun and funny game where you’ll be playing as a Minion of Gru from the movie Despicable Me, competing to be Minion of the Week or Minion of the Year. The app was released in mid-June 2013 and is available in 11 languages. It is rated for kids four and up and requires 44.7MB of storage space on your device. It is a universal app.
This is a fun endless runner game where you have to swipe left and right to move your Minion left and right, up to make it jump, and down to make him somersault under obstacles. Collect all the bananas and the hazards to get as far as you can! If you die, you can use some of your points to revive your Minion; otherwise, you have to start over.
There are also missions to complete, which will unlock multipliers. You’ll have missions like going a certain distance in one run, using some power-up, fighting bosses, and more.
Speaking of the boss fights, every time you go around 750 meters, you’ll have a boss fight. This isn’t your typical boss fight, either: the boss will be flying alongside the track, sending out other Minions to harass you and trip you up. Think fast, or you’ll be toast.
This is one fantastic game. It has great animations, high-quality visuals, and fun introductions for every level. The only downside is that every time you die, you’re subjected to that animated introduction, which can get tiring after a while.
Sometimes you’ll get a sideways view instead of from over your Minion’s shoulder. In boss fights, you’ll see your Minion face-to-face and will have to watch out for bad guys coming from behind. This makes the game an ongoing challenge.
The downside is that you only have a choice from four different Minions to play.
Features of the Despicable Me: Minion Rush include 3D graphics, bonus game plays, secret areas, power-ups, the Fluffy Unicorn to ride, and the ability to destroy things.
There are several in-app purchases you can make:
This app is still running on Version 1.0.0.
Despicable Me: Minion Rush has 2041 customer ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are all positive.
I think this is a really fun game with lots of challenges to make things interesting. The 3D graphics are simply outstanding, and the gameplay itself is fairly simple to get used to. It’s not an easy game, though, so you will find it a challenge. I wish there were more choices for characters to play. Other than that, I have no complaints aside from the fact that I wish you could skip the animated intro after you’ve seen it once.
