Jetpack Joyride is High Octane Fun

Jetpack Joyride's original name was Machine Gun Jetpack featuring a jetpack that gained altitude as a result of shooting a hail of bullets. The name was later changed to Jetpack Joyride to reflect the myriad of propulsion methods used to keep the jetpack and its passenger aloft.  As it turned out, Jetpack Joyride is the perfect name for this game because it will bring a lot of joy to anyone who plays the game. Halfbrick Studios delivers a super fun game where the objective is to survive and collect as many coins and power ups as you can along the way. After signing in with Game Center or OpenFeint, the action starts immediately as your character, Barry Steakfries, blasts through a wall into a scientific compound where a super secret jetpack has been developed.  Immediately, Barry straps on a jet pack and hits the ground running and ready to dodge any obstacles in his way which mostly consists of floating electric bars and missiles.

The controls are simple: tap the screen to fire up the jetpack and cruise higher. The longer the screen is touched, the higher Barry flies but the limit is the ceiling in the compound. Letting go of the screen will cause Barry to drift down toward the ground. Coins are collected along the way and can be used to purchase new gear or specific power-ups. For example, Barry's initial jetpack is propelled by bullets but purchases can be made to have it propelled by bullets, steam and a host of other methods.  Hitting a vehicle power up icon grants you access to one of many vehicles and suits, including an anti-gravity suit that lets you run on the ceiling and a motorcycle which speeds up the longer you stay alive on it.  Aside from staying alive and collecting coins, side missions provide additional challenges such as high-fiving a specific number of scientists and sliding 50 meters on your face (this happens when you are zapped by an electric bar or nailed by a missile).

Halfbrick has found a way to combine simple game play with intricate objectives and a myriad of power ups giving players plenty to work toward. Jetpack Joyride is challenging, straight forward and most of all, a ton of fun. We highly recommend picking it up.
