ABC Phonics Montessori Talking Alphabet app review: helping kids learn the alphabet

Introduction

ABC Phonics Montessori Talking Alphabet by Abitalk Incorporated is an education app that is meant to help kids learn their alphabet through fun and engaging activities. Not only will they learn about the 26 letters in the alphabet but they will learn the upper and lowercase version of each one. This app was released on May 24, 2013 and is available in English.

User Experience

The user interface has been designed to be very kid-friendly so they feel encouraged and motivated to learn and play in this environment. It's really meant for those kids who are self-paced when it comes to learning or even for those kids going through homeschooling. The app is meant for kids age two to six.

Features

Kids will be able to learn all about the uppercase and lowercase version of all 26 letters of the alphabet. This is done through three different activities which are ABC Talking, ABC Song, and ABC Matching. Kids will learn about the short and long vowel sounds of each of the letters and are given examples of each version in the ABC Song activity.

In ABC Matching they will match the vowel with the example - this is the most challenging activity of all three. In ABC Talking they will learn all forms of the letters through an animated character, as well as the phonics. Additional features include looking at the letter sound against the letter name, 52 first words that act as a great starting point for kids, an animation for each letter, and an image of each word.

The activities are all presented in a fun and engaging way using graphics, colors, and images that appeal to kids. When kids are using the app it's recommended you let them work at their own pace and don't push or rush them through the exercises. This allows them to fully absorb and understand the teachings.

This app takes a hands-on approach to learning the alphabet through engaging and fun activities. The activities are all very easy to understand and really do push the child to learn and absorb the meaning behind each instruction. Continued use and repetition of the app could certainly help speed along your child’s comprehension when it comes to the alphabet. I appreciated what the developer recommends about allowing the child to work and learn at their own pace, putting the control in their hands.
