Three Little Pigs app review: bringing the story to life

Introduction

Three Little Pigs by TabTale LTD is a free interactive book that doesn't just re-tell the classic tale but also teaches kids about important lessons in life regarding hard work. This book will almost leap off the pages at children thanks to the interactive elements and animations. It was released on July 1, 2013 and is available in English.

User Experience

This app has been designed with kids in mind so right from launching it you will find the controls are easy to use, elements are well laid-out, and each screen is kid-friendly. They will be able to touch and explore all kinds of interactive features on the pages. The animations make the story lively and fun and help to capture the child’s attention.

Features

This book is loaded with features that make it a gem for kids. There are sound effects, interactive activities and games, and animations.

Kids will have a choice of three different reading modes which are Read It Myself, Read To Me, or Auto Play. No matter which mode they choose, the interactive activities will appear.

Besides just the fun treasures on each page of the story there are also activities such as paint-a-picture, jigsaw puzzles, counting, match it, and more. The jigsaw puzzles promote the child's critical thinking skills, painting allows them to get creative, counting helps to teach them the basics of counting from one to 10, and in match it they will be using their memory skills. Each game has an educational element about it and helps to reinforce the message in the story.

Interactive activities include watching how the big bad wolf chases the three little pigs, helping the pigs on their journey, and helping the pigs build their houses. The HD illustrations should also be mentioned as they are bright, rich, and lively and certainly add yet another element to the book. Kids will be learning all about the value of hard work through this classic tale.

I really enjoyed the features, activities, and the telling of the story. This was an all-around great app for kids to use. I thought it was fun that there were so many interactive and animated elements on each screen. Kids could almost find a new item each time they read the story.
