Introduction
BabyBump Pregnancy Free by Alt12 Apps, LLC is a great app that will give you safety tips, suggestions on how to be more comfortable during your pregnancy, and give you tons of information about your pregnancy itself. If you’re expecting, or know someone who is and want to know more, download this app today.
How It Works
Using this app is a little less complicated than the birds and the bees, so you‘ll have no worries there. When you first launch the app, you’ll have to input your due date or last menstrual period; this tells the app how to figure out how far along you are (which dictates what information you’re shown). After that, every time you launch the app, you’ll be taken directly to information specific to how far along you are.
This info page has your name, how far along you are, which trimester you are currently in, and how many days left of your pregnancy remain. You’ll also see a tip specific to that day (today, mine is “Make Time for Daddy”), and an image of what the baby looks like.
More User Info
If you click on the image of the baby, you’re taken to a new page with some more images of the baby and what it looks like in your uterus, as well as some fun facts about it. For example, being 18 weeks pregnant and two days, (or 18w3d according to this app), my baby is the size of a sweet potato, about 5.6 inches long from the top of its head to its bum, and weighs around 6.7 ounces. This page also gives some more in-depth info on the baby and its development, your body, and a health tip.
The sidebar menu gives you options like Shop, Pregnancy Info (which is the main page), Photos, and then social media stuff like Groups, Messages, Friends, and more. There’s also a Journal section, which is nice to have to document weight and waist measurement, your mood, and how you feel in general, any weird cravings, morning sickness, and doctor appointments. You can also input notes.
For a free app, there’s quite a bit of information here. If you go into Settings, you can edit the info about your name and due date, info about the baby, measurements, and change notification options. You can also pick your theme and sound/audio preferences here. Of course, if you’d like to upgrade to the Pro version, you can do it from here as well. This in-app purchase costs $3.99 but you get a kick counter, contraction timer, and baby name data base to help you name the little bean.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lots of content for a free app
- Great way to keep track of your pregnancy day-by-day
- Easy to navigate
Cons
- The full version is kind of pricey but that’s irrelevant; this free version is more than adequate
Final Words
I’m actually pregnant and have been using BabyBump for months. I tried out a few of the free ones and one paid one before I settled on this one; it offered the most features, had the most accurate information, and was the nicest to look at. I wanted an app that would tell me how far along I was, show me images of the baby, and tell me how big it is getting. This app does all that. I might go looking for a free kick counter and contraction timer; if I can’t find suitable ones I will upgrade to the Pro version.
