Introduction
This app enables you to see the sunrise, sunset, dawn, and dusk times for any day in the past or future for any location in the world, all presented to you with a gorgeous animated user-interface which takes full advantage of your device’s Retina support and the larger iPhone 5 display.
Sunrise Sunset HD is a real visual feast with some wonderfully mesmerizing background animations which change depending on the time of day for whichever locations you choose; the content is very easy to navigate and the premise of this app is fiendishly simple so you’ll be able to pick up and use it almost immediately.
Everything Under the Sun is in Tune...
If you’re anything like me, as soon as you start up this app for the first time, you’ll probably say something like, “Wow, that’s pretty!”
This may sound silly but I’m very impressed with how this app is presented; the basic interface features your current location’s times for sunrise, sunset, dawn, dusk, solar noon, the beginning of twilight, and the end of twilight, as well as the total number of hours of daylight for the given day.
Above this information is the date presented in a calendar format which you can flick up and down to change to either a past or future date; this means you get sunrise and sunset information for any time in the past and present.
Not only does this app work in the dimension of time; you can also add extra locations for pretty much any town, city, or state in the world, and you can slide left and right to switch between your saved locations.
One thing I like about this feature is that there doesn’t seem to be a major limitation on the number of locations you can save.
I’ve saved half a dozen cities around the world so far just out of idle curiosity, including Tokyo, London, Bangkok, and Madrid, and I haven’t hit a cap yet – this is great because I’ve used a few similar apps before and you would usually have to pay extra to unlock more than one or two additional locations.

...but the Sun is Eclipsed by the Moon
While I don’t personally have much of a need to see the sunrise and sunset times for various locations, I do like this app a lot and the nature- and space-themed animated backgrounds are, well, very pretty!
If I had to make a complaint it would be a very minor one; I would like to see Facebook and Twitter integration added to future updates because some people might enjoy sharing their saved locations with friends and family.
This is, of course, a very minor addition and I don’t think there are any major changes that need to be made to Sunrise Sunset HD overall.
This app looks great, runs very smoothly, and delivers on all of its promises, so it definitely gets a shining review from me.
