Introduction
This fantastic app is a must-have for all Last.fm users, enabling you to create playlists based on the music in your Music Library while discovering new songs and artists which are suited to your tastes. This app also scrobbles so you can keep your Last.fm profile up to date with your latest tunes.
I’ve been finding this app to work surprisingly well, and the playlists it puts together combine some great mixes based on various themes such as tempo, emotional content, audio dynamics, and much more, so I would definitely recommend this as an essential app for all Last.fm users.
Scrobble to Your Heart's Content!
Scrobbler is my favorite music app at the moment, and with its awesome interface and comprehensive features; it’s really no wonder why I would say that.
For those of you who don’t already know, scrobbling basically means that this app will automatically add the tracks you play to your Last.fm profile, essentially syncing up your in-app musical choices with your online profile – hence the name of the app!
Scrobbler does a great job of putting together well-rounded playlists based on the music you already have on your iOS device, and this is a fantastic way of discovering new bands and artists, as well as sharing them with other users online.
One thing I particularly like about this app is the way the interface looks; it has a black-gray ashen feel to it which contrasts very nicely with the album and artist photos which are automatically picked up and displayed within the app.
Aside from this, Scrobbler can simply act as a more comprehensive music app than the basic Music tool which comes as standard with iOS, but if you want more out of it in the form of the Last.fm features, scrobbling, and so on, then I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
View automatically generated playlists based on the music in your Music Library
-
Discover new artists based on your current tastes
-
Scrobble!
Cons
-
Scrobbles don’t save when offline
Scrobble the Day Away!
I do have one minor complaint regarding scrobbling – songs which are played while your device is offline don’t appear to get saved for scrobbling upon reconnection, and scrobbling as a whole doesn’t seem to be entirely thorough, so some songs are skipped from time to time.
This isn’t a major issue for me because I think the rest of the features more than make up for it, but it would obviously be great to see this fixed in future updates.
All in all, I’m very happy with this app and I’ll definitely be keeping it around on my iPhone for the foreseeable future.
