Kamikaze Pigs app review: roast all the pigs by creating a chain reaction!

Reviews

Introduction

Kamikaze Pigs is a new game by Chillingo, one of the best app developers out there. Known from games as Tiny Troopers and Puzzle Craft, Chillingo delivers a true challenger for the fun, quick game crown that is currently, and has always been owned by, Angry Birds. In Kamikaze Pigs, your goal is to blow up a bomb in a battlefield. Hitting different kinds of Kamikaze Pigs will make them react to their demise in a different way. Collect stars and reach the goal for the amount of carnage you deliver and progress to the next level.

Upgrade, Divide and Conquer!

By playing the different levels you progress over a world map, which is covered in the War Room. As of now, there are five levels, each with seven stages. Each level ends in a big bang where you have to defeat a boss, usually depicted as a building in the shape of a pork product of some kind. Every time you play, you will receive coins; you can also buy them in the coin shop for real money. These coins are used to upgrade your pigs to deliver more devastation in the game.

Every stage also has six stars to collect, sometimes by hitting them with a bullet or explosion from a pig, others only by hitting a certain score. Perfect a particular level and you unlock a bonus level.

Angry Pigs?

The similarities to Angry Birds are found throughout the game. Each level is quick to play, the game is easy to understand, and the graphics are funny. You can replay each level as much has you want to gather more coins, or to get that one elusive, hard-to-access star. These stars are used to unlock upgrades, meaning you can’t buy them if you don’t own enough stars, even though you might have tons of coins.

For an extortionate amount of coins, you can also unlock access to certain upgrades, which I’m not sure is really worth it. In addition to the world map, a survival mode is also available, where you try and continue to keep filling your roast bar and score as big a chain as possible. You advance through rounds and try and beat the scores of Napoleon, Einstein, and other famous historical figures.

  • Easy to play
  • Great graphics
  • Hours of fun

Cons

  • Bosses are very hard
  • Coins are expensive to buy

Conclusion

Angry, uhm, Kamikaze Pigs is currently one of the top free games on the App Store. With quick, pick-up-and-play gameplay, tons of levels, and a huge number of upgrades, this game will keep you busy for at least a few hours. It looks like the developer will also add new content to the game if it’s popular enough so I really want all of you to download and play this game to your heart’s content.
