Introduction
Preschool EdukidsRoom by Cubic Frog Apps is a fun educational app for preschoolers aged two to five to play and learn. In this pre-school app, there are seven games in all, hosted by two crazy-yet-cute character guides.
Kids will love this game, and parents will love that their kids can learn and have fun at the same time. Let's see if this is truly a good iPhone app for preschool toddlers as we examine it further in our EduKidsRoom app review.
Enter the Kids' Room
The free version includes seven games, each with different activities to stimulate learning and growth. Different skillsets the game works on include memory, pattern recognition, shape recognition, color recognition, sorting by colors, number recognition, and counting.
I like that the game has two levels for different age groups: one for kids two and three, which is easy mode, and normal mode for kids three, four, or five.
Having looked at it and knowing what stages my daughter was at in those years, I figure that this game is probably best for three year olds, but kids younger and older will also get some use out of it.
I really like that every answer gets immediate feedback. Wrong answers make the screen vibrate and encourage the player to try again. Correct answers get praise. My daughter really liked playing through these games.
Creative and fun
The creativity that went into these games is obvious. They’re all designed to be kid-friendly, and feature easily-recognizable items. Another plus is that you can play again and again, but the individual games are shown in different order so it will take longer before kids get bored.
The settings page allows parents to disable some games, which can be done to keep the games with skillsets a child needs to master while skipping the ones the child finds too easy.
If you like what you see, and I think you will, you can purchase the full version (and get rid of the ads) for $3.99.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- The free version has quite a few games to try
- Random appearance of games so it’s a fresh experience every time
- Ability to remove activities
- Fun, creative games designed for kids two to five
- Kids get immediate feedback
Cons
- The ads are irritating and some little ones might click on ads constantly which kind of defeats the purpose of the game
Final Verdict
Other than the fact that the free version starts out with a full-screen ad that can distract a child right off the bat, I think this is a great app.
I can tell the work that went into it to make it suitable and enjoyable for kids two through five, and would highly recommend it. This is definitely a kid-approved game!
