Introduction
Turn your iPhone into a musical presentation of lights, sounds, and colors with all manner of gorgeous visual themes, lighting effects, playlists, and mix modes to completely revolutionize the way you listen to your favorite bands and artists.
The developer claims that this music mixing app has magical powers and while I haven’t managed to make my cup of coffee levitate with it just yet, this is almost certainly one of the prettiest – yes, prettiest! – and most innovative offerings in the mixing music app niche that I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.

Splyce and Dyce!
There really is so much you can do with this app, but my favorite feature, or at least what I think is the most interesting one, is the way you can sync up the tempos of each song so that the beat remains consistent from track to track.
This isn’t anything too groundbreaking but I’ve been using it to set the pace for my cardio workouts and it’s fascinating to hear fast songs brought down to a slower tempo, and vice versa.
When you first start up this app, you’ll be tasked with throwing together a playlist of your favorite tracks, but you can also access your existing playlists if you want to save time. From here you can begin experimenting with different mix modes, color schemes, and even lighting effects which utilize your device’s camera flash.
To get the most out of Splyce, you’ll have to upgrade to the full version via in-app purchase; however, the paid version is only $0.99 and it’ll open up a whole new realm of possibilities for creating some completely out-there playlists.
There are some great mix modes which will alter the tempo slightly (or dramatically) and you can also adjust the mix time to as much as 60 seconds, so if you ever wondered what Frank Sinatra and Frankie Goes to Hollywood sound like mashed up, now you can find out!
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Create playlists of your favorite songs with all manner of interesting mix modes
- Adjustable color scheme
- Lighting effects via your device’s camera flash
- Adjust the mix time of your tracks to hear them overlap and mash together to create some unique sounds
Cons
Final Words
The only negative point I can find with Splyce is that it doesn’t display the lyrics for the currently playing song, but this doesn’t seem entirely necessary given that this app is largely designed for special events or parties.
The user-interface is probably the best I’ve ever seen in a music app and the audio quality is second to none, plus the way you can manipulate tempo and track mixing really sets Splyce apart from the competition.
Even if you’re happy with your current music player app, please be sure to take this one for a test spin; even if you don’t upgrade to the full version I think you’ll still be very impressed with what Splyce has to offer.
