Introduction
iTop is an app to find apps, music, movies and other entertainment on the iTunes and App Store. And it doesn’t stop here! iTop also brings you the latest news on Apps, music, films and TV shows, as well as doing book reviews and the weather forecast! To top is all of, it includes a chat box which uses Facebook or Twitter to log in to. The app is designed for both iPhone and iPad and is about 10 MB in size, which is absolutely not bad for an app that looks as good as this one.
Beautiful design and layout
The iTop app, by Joe Sriver, is beautifully designed in a tile layout, and it kind of reminds me of Windows 8. From the top you can easily find what you’re looking for. It always shows iNews, the news section and iTalk, the chat box on top, followed by the apps section. Each section, be it apps, music, TV or film all have been designed especially for the category, so you never get confused where you navigated to. New releases, free apps, rental movies, you don’t ever have to look far for a recommendation in this app. The addition of specific news is particularly handy if you want to keep up to date with anything to do with what’s available in iTunes or the App Store. Everything in here is simply because the app is a glorified RSS reader.
Book reviews, podcasts and the weather
The Book Reviews section is a bit of a misguiding name, as it’s not just reviews, but all kinds of literary news. The books that are reviewed are all available via iBooks but link you through to another website, which usually has a nice direct iBooks link so you can instantly download them if you find the review intriguing. The podcasts work the same way, although they do have a direct link in the article (mainly as they are linked directly from iTunes). Last but not least, the weather app, which is completely useless. Clicking on there simply gives a 500 Internal Server Error, meaning something went terribly wrong testing this part of the app. It feels like the filler went wrong.

Conclusion
If you want to keep in touch on the latest news, it’s probably easier to get an RSS reader and subscribe to feeds yourself, however, if you feel you need tips on what to listen to, watch or play next, this app might be right for you. With its well thought out design, this app might bring you exactly what you need. I’m sticking with my own RSS reader as it has more than what this app has to offer.
