A Wordsmith And 'W.E.L.D.E.R.' Together Results In F-U-N

W.E.L.D.E.R. (Word Examination Laboratory for Dynamic Extraction and Reassessment) from Ayopa Games is a clever combination of word and puzzle games, creating the mix of Scrabble and Bejeweled. Starting off with an 8x8 board of random letters and special squares, the player's goal is to create a set number of words to move on to the next level. Instead of highlighting words or placing letters, the goal is to relocate them on the board to earn points and move on. Letters can be swapped with any adjacent square, and there are blank spaces that can transform into any letter with a double tap. It may sound easy, yet the swap limit is staring players down and making their moves more cautious. The words also have to be four or more letters, so there is no easy way out. It all comes down to clever planning and a wide database of words. As the levels move on, so do the number of variables affecting the game. Different types of tiles and moves are presented to add an extra challenge. You can also play for a high score, with multipliers and point values moving you on. There is also Game Center support for achievements and a share feature if you wish to share your crazy words with the world. It may seem unnecessary to include that feature, but it is a nice touch. Let's face it, both puzzle and word games are addicting. W.E.L.D.E.R. is easy to start and hard to finish, which in my book makes for a compelling experience.
