FOX5 Weather app review: full-featured weather app with NOWrad radar technology

Introduction

This is a generic weather app which provides all of the usual weather forecasting features you would hope to find. It delivers prompt and accurate information on temperature, humidity, rainfall, severe weather conditions, and up to 10 days of advance weather forecasts.

I can usually tell immediately if a weather app is going to be worth its salt. FOX5 Weather uses NOWrad radar technology, which seems to be the standard across many apps nowadays, so straight away I can see this is a solidly developed resource with tons of features and a great deal of accuracy.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

I’ve used enough weather apps now to be able to easily distinguish between half-hearted developments and those which have clearly had a lot of attention paid to their accuracy and detail, not to mention user-friendliness.

FOX5 Weather is a shining example of a weather forecasting app which delivers on all fronts; there aren’t any particularly novel features here but you’ll get reliable weather forecasts in a variety of formats including satellite and hybrid map views, and more general overviews with varying levels of detail depending on the timeframe you’re looking at.

I like the way you can choose between up-to-the-minute weather reports or look at the daily, weekly, or even 10-day forecasts to get a clearer idea of what’s happening. This is ideal for those of you who are arranging a trip and need to plan dates and accommodation accordingly.

This app doesn’t have any of the unnecessary bells and whistles which often come along with a lot of similar developments, so if you’re looking for a fully-fledged weather forecasting app which takes itself seriously and includes a wide array of different tools, you really can’t go wrong with FOX5 Weather. ...Come Again Another Day!

As soon as I started up this app for the first time I thought “ok, here we go again; another generic weather app,” and while this might sound like a negative thing, I actually think it’s a pretty good point to make.

There are quite a few developers who are always trying to reinvent the wheel with novel app ideas and new spins on old concepts, and while I think this is wonderfully innovative and it does result in some awesome developments, there is also a lot of fluff which comes along with the process and it can often be pretty frustrating wasting time with the ‘duds.’

FOX5 Weather follows a tried-and-true formula with a generic layout which is easy to navigate, a range of features which aren’t too outlandish and which you’d expect to find in a detailed weather app, and a solidly designed interface with unrivaled smoothness of operation and stability.
