Songsterr Tabs & Chords app review: learn songs faster than ever before

Reviews

Introduction

This subscription-based app will enable you to learn songs faster than you ever imagined possible by utilizing a collection of guitar, bass, and drum tabs. With a fantastic MIDI engine, you’ll be able to hear exactly how the song needs to be played so that you can easily pick up the small nuances and take your playing to the next level.

I really wish I had discovered an app like this when I first started playing guitar because it would have enabled me to pin down the basics far more easily. The synthesized instruments sound very believable and there are tons of customization options so I would definitely recommend this very well-developed app.

Everything You Need to Learn New Songs

Before going any further, I should note that you’ll have to sign up for a subscription in order to access the full functionality of this app; subscriptions are priced at $4.99 per month.

You can still use Songsterr without subscribing but you’ll only be able to view and listen to the first 20 seconds of each track before it cuts out, so this is definitely a good way of getting a taste for what is on offer so you can decide if it’s what you’re looking for.

Well Worth the Subscription

The main page features a list of currently popular guitar tabs and you can also tap the top of the screen to view bass or drum tabs. When you select a song, you’ll be able to view the tablature for it, and there are loads of addition options including three-second count-in, adjustments to playback speed, looping of certain sections, and much more.

If you don’t want to view extensive tablature, some songs also include the chords so you can take a more basic approach, and each song comes with its own tuning and an integrated chromatic tuner to make sure you’re pitch perfect.

Any songs you particularly like or that you’re still in the process of learning can be added to your Favorites list for quick future reference, and you can also view a full history of the tabs you’ve accessed.

Final Words

It’s great to see a musician’s app which has been developed by people who really know what budding guitarists, bassists, and drummers want in order to learn effectively.
