College Football Score Schedule Standing app review: an unofficial college football app

Reviews

Introduction

College Football Score Schedule Standing (quite a mouthful) by Quoc Dang is an app designed to tell you everything about college football. It’s sad to see that this app doesn’t really do anything like that, but instead has a random collection of features, which I will do my very best to explain in the review of this confusing and ridiculously useless app. In addition to being absolutely filled with random features, the app is also chock-full of ads, which is really annoying.

Relevant Features

The app has a News section (strangely to be found under the Schedule section, where no actual schedule is found) that has some random news about college football. It also has a rankings page, but this simply links you to the ESPN website using an in-app browser. In addition to these very few college football items, the app also has an introduction page explaining what the NFL, NCAA, FBS, and FCS are. That is it. The Hot News section has a list of different links, with not even half of them actually having anything to do with College Football. Everything else in this app is only remotely linked to college football and I will tell you why.

Irrelevant Features

The app has two different games included: a matching game and a slide puzzle. The latter didn’t work. The only link with college football is the photo the app uses. The app randomly features a light, in case you need it during a night match, a camera mode, to capture the best shot during a match, a check-in option, a link to a ticket website, and a document scanner (to scan your tickets). On top of all these amazing features (sarcasm) there is also an in-app calendar (which links to your own calendar on your device) so you can “schedule your own game.” To top it all off, the app also has a shop, with four items in it, that all link straight to the Amazon website.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Tons of different features
  • Link straight to ESPN

Cons

  • The app is a mess
  • Over half of the features have nothing to do with college football
  • No stats, scores, or schedules to be found
  • Tons of ads

Conclusion

This app is an abomination. I have never seen an app get away with such bad design and simply not delivering on what is promised. I would review this app better if it just had one page with a college football schedule on there, but even that is too much to ask. Do yourself a favor and don’t download this app. The ads will drive you crazy and you simply won’t get what you came for. Other developers should use this app as an example on what not to do.
