Can you find out? (Kids Education) app review: helping kids learn in a fun way
Introduction
Most parents are always on the look-out for a good quality, engaging, and entertaining education app for their kids to use. The Can you find out? app is one that gives kids a way to learn through words and pictures.
No Pressure
Unlike many kids' education apps there is no scoring system nor countdown clock,. which means that kids are free to learn at their own pace without feeling rushed or pressured to get the correct answer. There are two modes of play in the app: kids can either play with words or with pictures.
I began with the pictures mode of play and turned my four year old loose on this app. They are given a picture at the top of the screen; they need to find that identical picture on the screen that holds a large variety of pictures in the same category. For instance they might be playing in the “Fruits” category and will need to find the orange among all the different fruits.
My son thoroughly enjoyed the app but I found it to be a bit too easy for him. So even though it kept him entertained I wouldn’t say it was particularly challenging.
Get Ready for the Challenge
The other mode of play is to use words. This is much more challenging for kids because instead of being given a picture they have to find they will see a word on the top of the screen such as “Green” and then they will need to find the picture that matches with the word. As you can imagine this requires much more on their part. I liked that they could work their way up to this mode and parents can play with them to help with the words. It acts as an introduction to a number of basic and common words and with continued exposure to the words they will start to recognize them on their own.
The app can be played in three different languages which are English, Chinese, and Japanese. They are all exactly the same game play. The categories kids will play in include animals, fruits, vegetables, sea creatures, fast food, national flags, colors, and more.
The user interface was designed to be kid-friendly so they will have no problem at all playing on their own.

A Great Experience
I really enjoyed this app, as did my son. I think it’s safe to say both of us would give this one two thumbs up. It was so easy to understand and use and really had him focused and engaged in the activity and learning. I liked that it was an app I felt confident letting him play with or without supervision as well.
