Kids Recipes & Desserts Free app review: keeping meals new and interesting

Reviews

Introduction

As a busy mom on the go I appreciate any app that can make meal time easier, faster, and more enjoyable for the whole family and that’s exactly what the Kids Recipes & Desserts Free app aims to do. You’ll find a large selection of recipes in all categories that you can prepare on your own or have the kids join in to help.

A Family Affair

Who said that Mom or Dad should be the one doing all the cooking? I really appreciate that so many of the recipes are kid-friendly dishes not just in taste and nutritional content, but also in preparation. As I scrolled through the categories I found myself spotting dish after dish that I wanted to try out. Recipes are divided into desserts, lunch, vegetarian, spring, summer, winter, autumn, low fat, chocolate, kids snacks, pasta, gluten free, cakes, lunch box ideas, drink recipes, birthday cakes, toddler, and kids breakfast. So as you can see it’s easy to spend quite a bit of time browsing through the dishes.

All recipes include a picture of the finished product so you know what it should look like. As for the layout of the recipes, they are easy to follow and at the top of each one the prep time, cook time, and servings is specified. You can scroll to the bottom of the recipe to find the nutritional content breakdown, which was another great feature if you’re looking for healthy options.

A Slick User Interface

It’s more than just the content here that catches my eye. I really enjoy the user interface as the design feels slick, modern, and very easy to use and navigate. There is a handy search tool you can use to search for a recipe name or a specific ingredient if you like, or you can just browse through the library of free recipes.

You can email recipes, mark them as favorites (star them), and even scroll through some rather cute pictures you can set as your wallpaper.

Now because this is a free app it is ad-supported with the ad-banner running across the bottom of the screen. For me it’s a small price to pay considering how many recipes you are given. Plus there’s the fact the banner really doesn’t get in the way at all.
